Welcome to our blog!

We are DeepSpar and we have been manufacturing professional data recovery equipment since 2004.

As of 2020, thousands of data recovery and forensics organizations from more than 80 countries rely on our tools.

Guardonix is the culmination of our extensive experience, offering the most critical functionality packaged in a format which is convenient for computer forensics professionals.

We can proudly say that absolutely all of our development is done here in Canada, and our technical support services are only provided from Canada as well.

In this blog we will periodically post videos with technical information on different computer forensics concepts, showing how Guardonix is different from traditional write blockers.

Most of the features we show in this blog require the Professional Edition upgrade.

February 20, 2019 - Guardonix Demo Video

In this first video we show what the Guardonix kit comes with, the installation process, and how it works with physically degraded HDDs.

July 14, 2019 - Guardonix Visualization and Reporting Features

We briefly go over the visualization and reporting features which clarify what is really happening during the data acquisition process. We talk about USB drive initialization process, USB-SCSI error messaging system, logging & visualization of all reads/writes/errors, and graphical speed display.

August 21, 2019 - Writeblocking Through Windows Registry

We cover the pros and cons of software write blocking of USB storage devices through the registry. We show that this method only blocks writes that are processed through the file system mounted by Windows, leaving the drive wide open to writes made by any applications/services which work outside of the Windows partition manager.

September 20, 2019 - Control Options in Guardonix

We further expand on some of the key control options provided by Guardonix. We talk about preventing file system mounting through diskpart vs by Guardonix, reporting the source as read-only, responding to write attempts in different ways, forcing the drive to work at USB2.0 or 3.0 speeds, turning USB source power on/off, and preventing harmful self-scan procedures used by most modern drives.

October 29, 2019 - Recovering Unstable NVMe SSDs with Guardonix

We show two of the most common types of NVMe SSD read instability issues and how Guardonix handles them.

January 31, 2020 - Hidden Data Areas and Password Unlocking

We show how Guardonix handles Host Protected Areas (HPA), Device Configuration Overlays (DCO), ATA passwords, and WD Smartware passwords.

November 6, 2020 - Guardonix Version 2 Upgrade

We show the main improvements of version 2 of Guardonix, which was a free firmware upgrade for all users. Professional Edition is required for all features shown in this video. We show flash storage acceleration, keyword searches, and new additions to our logging capabilities.
